DeStefano returned to Wheeling Jesuit as a graduate student to finish her playing eligibility. The Follansbee, W.Va. native has been a valuable player in the midfield and on defense. After strating the season with an injury, DeStefano played in 13 matches this season and started seven. She will return to Wheeling Jesuit to complete her Masters in Business Administration.
McGinnis is a four-year starter from Washington, Pa. Due to several injuries, McGinnis was sidelined for most of the season and has appeared in seven matches – all as a starter. To date, she's totaled seven points for the Cardinals, scoring three goals and one assist. McGinnis will be earning a Criminal Justice degree in May.
In the double overtime affair, UC held a 21-6 advantage in shots and 7-2 from the corner. WJU goalkeepers,
Holly Kraus and
Carley Kordas, split time in the net and collected nine saves. Kraus played the initial 45 minutes and stopped 3 Golden Eagle attacks, while Kordas tended goal for the final 65 minutes, recording six stops.
With the split, Wheeling Jesuit moves to 4-10-3 and 3-6-1 in WVIAC play, while the Golden Eagles stand at 7-8-3 and 5-3-2 in the league.
Wheeling Jesuit will travel Pepper Pike, Ohio for the final regular season match of the year against Ursuline College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
