Saige Jenco enters his first season as a Graduate Assistant on Ryan Lewicki's Wheeling Baseball staff for the 2024-2025 season. Jenco will be working primarily with the team's outfielders on defense throughout the year.
Jenco comes to Wheeling from La Roche University, where he served as an Assistant Coach for the 2023 season. He served as the team's hitting coach, outfield coach, and base running coach during his time with the Red Hawks, helping lead the team to a 13-21 record. During the season, his offense hit .279 with 31 home runs and 214 RBI, while successfully stealing 24 bases in 35 attempts. Prior to La Roche, Jenco spent two seasons as a Head Coach for both a U16 and U17 program during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
As a player, Jeno was the starting centerfielder at Virginia Tech for three seasons, and took home All-ACC honors. He was drafted in the 24th round (731st overall) by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016 and spent three seasons in the Dodgers system, making it to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. Over 674 at-bats in the minor leagues, Jenco would hit .264 with five home runs and 56 RBI while stealing 41 bases. He retired from the Dodgers during the 2018 season and finished his professional career with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League.
Jenco is currently pursuing his Master's in Business Administration at Wheeling University.
