Willie Saxton enters his third season as Assistant Wrestling Coach under Head Coach Shane Brown during the 2023-24 season.

During the 2023-24 season, Saxton was tasked with helping the team's heavyweights and had 285-pound wrestler Jake Powell excel under his watch. Saxton began the 2022-23 season as the Interim Head Wrestling Coach and helped the program through their first few meets of the season. He worked with them in the preseason, working primarily with conditioning and other aspects of preparing for the season. He helped the Cardinals have two top-four finishers at the MEC Tournament in Caden Canning (141) and Zach Kuneff (285).

As a student-athlete, Saxton wrestled in the 141-pound weight class at Missouri for two seasons, serving as the primary backup for Ashtin Primus. He had a personal best eight game winning streak in his first season with Missouri and placed in four tournaments during his first season. Prior to Missouri, Saxton wrestled one season at Central Missouri State University. He would pick up 13 victories during that first year, winning four of those 13 matches in bonus points.
