Joey Bonham enters his second season as a Graduate Assistant on Ben Healy's Coaching staff with the Cross Country and Track & Field teams during the 2026-2027 season. He works primarily with the team's jumpers, being a leader across the field events.

During the 2025-2026 season, Bonham worked with the team's jumpers and propelled the field events to new heights. Under his watch, Autumn King would take home Honorable Mention All-MEC in the Women's High Jump, transitioning back to the jumping events after a successful volleyball season. He also assisted with all aspects of day-to-day operations, including team practices, scheduling travel & meals, and helping in meet preparation. During the outdoor season, he helped mentor Fenne Sienaert in the multi events and led her to a Second Team All-MEC honor and the school record in the Women's Heptathlon at the 2026 MEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Prior to Wheeling, Bonham spent time as an intern Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Bluffton University during the 2024-2025 season. He assisted in day-to-day operations for the Bluffton Track & Field team, running practices and helping out on the recruiting tour. He would also be an essential part of the team's day-to-day operations.

As an athlete, Bonham competed for four seasons as a member of the Bluffton University Track & Field team, while also being a two-year member of the Men's Basketball program. During his time at Bluffton, he was a five-time All-Conference honoree, competing in the High Jump, Long Jump, and Triple Jump during his time.

Bonham would graduate from Bluffton University in May 2025, where he received his Bacehlor of Arts degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science.
