Ben Healy was named the Head Track & Field / Cross Country Coach on March 17th, 2026, entering his first full season as Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach, and his third season working with both the Track & Field and Cross Country programs during the 2026-2027 season.
After taking over as the Head Track & Field Coach, Healy led the Cardinals through the 2026 Outdoor Track Season, seeing them double their point total on both the Men's & Women's sides at the 2026 MEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Healy has a hand in many facets of the team, working with the pole vaulters, sprinters, jumpers, and hurdlers during his time. Under his leadership, Alexander Rodriguez would take home First Team All-MEC honors in the Men's Pole Vault both during indoor and outdoor season. In total, he would coach eight All-MEC honorees between the indoor and outdoor track seasons.
During the 2024-25 Indoor season, Healy coached senior Kabwe Bwayla, who would compete in the Men's Triple Jump, and leaped a distance of 14.34 meters to take second overall in the 2025 Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championship event. It was his highest individual finish in a championship event and fell just .06 meters shy of his PR, which he set back during the Indoor Championships. Healy oversaw senior sprinter Joshua Boehm competed in the Men's 400-Meter and was able to claim third in the event with a time of 48.35 seconds.
Healy comes to the Cardinals after spending the 2023-2024 season as an Intern Track & Field Coach with Southern Connecticut State University. While working with the Owls, Healy assisted with the sprints, jumps, and multis, while also assisting with running and technical workouts for his athletes. Under his watch, the Owls had two runners in the 400-Meter dash at the 2024 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, with Owls sprinter Hannah Caiola earning All-American honors with a ninth-place finish. Before joining the Southern Connecticut staff, Healy held an internship as a strength and conditioning coach at Quinnipiac University in spring 2022.
Along with his experience as a coach, Healy has plenty of experience of his own on the track, competing as a five-year Decathlete at NCAA DI Sacred Heart University. Over his five seasons, Healy took third at the Indoor New England Championships in 2023 and 2024 and added a third-place finish at the Outdoor New England Championships in 2023. In his final run at the Outdoor New England Championships in 2024, Healy would put together his best effort of his career, taking second overall in the Decathlon. He served as a Team Captain for the Pioneers for three seasons and looks to bring that experience and leadership to the Cardinals.
Healy obtained a master's degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Sacred Heart University in 2024 and obtained a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science in 2022.
