Chelsea Butler is in her first season as an assistant softball coach at Wheeling Jesuit.
Butler had an outstanding career on the softball diamond at nearby Bethany College. She earned All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) three times, including First Team honors as a sophomore and senior, and was voted All-Region by the NFCA twice, including Second Team distinction as a senior. Butler, who started 177 games during her career, finished as the all-time leader in Bethany history with 191 hits.
In addition to the career hits record, Butler also ranked second in the Bison record books with 119 runs scored, fifth in stolen bases with 25 and sixth in doubles with 32.
During Butler’s career at Bethany, the Bison won two PAC Championships and played in the postseason four times, including NCAA Regional appearances in 2008 and 2011 and ECAC Tournament bids in 2009 and 2010. Butler led the Bison to a school-record 35 victories in 2010 and the program’s record during her tenure was 112-75, including a 42-14 mark in PAC play.
Butler, who graduated from Bethany in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education, is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wheeling Jesuit
