Cassie Minder enters her third season as an assistant coach on Mallory Chapman's staff during the 2026 season. Minder is no stranger to Wheeling Softball, spending four seasons in a Cardinal uniform.
Minder was crucial both on and off the field for the Cardinals during the 2025 season. She organized sponsorships and community events for the Cardinals and worked heavily with the outfielders. Under Minder's guidance, sophomore center fielder Amber Morgan earned an All-MEC honor and was a critical piece all season long that helped the team make it back to the MEC Tournament for the first time since 2018. Morgan would lead the team with a .404 batting average, hits (68), slugging percentage (.542), and on-base percentage (.457) while finishing with two home runs and 23 RBIs. Freshman outfileder Ava Kresak tailed Morgan with a .306 batting average, 14 RBIs, and had 12 multi-hit games throughout the season.
During the 2024 season, Minder served as the team's primary first base coach, as well as working with the team's outfielders. Under her watch, the Cardinal outfielders all had fielding percentages over .900 and finished with a combined 24 outfield assists. Minder also helped her team be very efficient on the base paths, stealing 21 of 24 bases (87.5%) on the season. Along with her duties as an assistant coach at Wheeling, she also serves as the Development Associate, Corporations & Foundations at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown.
As a player Minder, spent four seasons in a Cardinal uniform and hit .360 with 39 RBI and .413 on-base percentage. During her senior season, Minder helped lead the Cardinals to the 2018 MEC Softball Championship game against West Virginia Wesleyan. She hit .300 or better in each of her four seasons and was a two-time All-MEC award winner, taking home second team honors in 2018 and first team honors in 2016.
