Elijah Young

Elijah Young enters his third season on Greg Schmitt's Track & Field staff for the 2025-2026 season. Young works primarily with the pole vaulters and jumpers.

Young was a four-year member of both the Wheeling Football and Track & Field teams, spending his time on the field as a Pole Vaulter. Throughout his four seasons with the Cardinals, Young competed as a pole vaulter, long jumper, and triple jumper, with his top event being the Pole Vault. During the 2022-2023 season, Young won the lone MEC Title of his career, taking home first place in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.80 meters. This past season, Young finished top five in both events he competed in, taking 2nd in pole vault and fifth in long jump.

Along with his career on the track, Young also starred on the Wheeling Football team for five seasons. Young finished his career with 325 carries for 1,706 yards and 14 touchdowns over five seasons. The 2022 season was his best season, when he carried the ball 136 times for 878 yards and scored five touchdowns. He finished out his career with the lone All-MEC honor of his career, earning Honorable Mention All-MEC during the 2023 season.

Young is currently pursuing a Master's in Business Administration at Wheeling University.
