Joji Vakasiskakala is entering his second season as a Graduate Assistant on Maxwell Hamilton's staff in 2026-2027. Vakasiskakala is an alumni of the Cardinal program, and looks to continue growing the winning tradition of the program.
During the 2025-2026 season, he assisted in all aspects of team operation, with his biggest contributions coming in the kicking game. He would mentor Taku Musingwini, guiding him to break the program record for Penalty Kicks Made, Conversion Kicks Made, and Conversion Kicks Attempted during 15's season. He also helped with the team's offensive Gameplan, mentoring an offense that averaged 34.4 points per game during 15's season and 29.85 points per game during the 7's season. He helped Musingwini become one of three Cardinals to earn All-Conference honors in their first season in the Atlantic Rugby Conference, while also earning All-American honors later in the season.
Vakasiskakala played four seasons as a member of the Wheeling Men's Rugby team from 2013-2017, having a big role in the team's kicking game. During that time he totaled seven tries while going 10-11 (91%) on conversion kicks for a total of 55 points. He was one of the leaders for the Cardinals throughout his time, with his best season coming in a perfect 8-8 effort in conversion kicks during the 2018 15's season.
Vakasisiskakala graduaed from Wheeling University with his Bacehlor's Degree in the spring of 2018, and is currently pursuing a Master's of Business Administration at Wheeling University.
