Mat Anderson enters his first season as a Graduate Assistant with Wheeling Men's Lacrosse during the 2024 season.
An alumnus of Wheeling University, Anderson spent two seasons in a Cardinal's uniform as he helped grow the Men's Lacrosse program back to prominence. He was voted a team captain during both seasons and was awarded 1st Team All-Conference honors during his senior year in 2022. Anderson would continue to collect honors during that season, earning a 3rd Team All-Region honor, becoming the first All-Region player since the program was reinstated during the 2021 season.
During his senior season, Anderson led the Cardinal's defensive effort with 15 caused turnovers and was second on the unit with 40 ground balls. He scored one of the biggest goals of the season on April 16th against Davis & Elkins, when he took a shot from midfield that found its way into the back of the net. He would score five goals and added three assists that season, leading him to his first team All-Conference honor. It rounded out an impressive two year career that saw Anderson lead his team back into the GMAC playoff picture.
Prior to Wheeling, Anderson spent two seasons at Genesee Community College. While with the Cougars, Anderson was a two-time team captain while earning two first team All-Conference honors, two All-Region honors, and an All-American honor as he capped off his career. He spent his first collegiate season at Rutgers University before transferring to Genesee Community College.
Anderson graduated from Wheeling University in 2022 and is currently pursuing a Master's of Business Administration.
