Terry Virtue

This is Terry Virtue’s first year as Head Coach and Recruiter for the up and coming
hockey program at Wheeling Jesuit University.
 
Terry is highly qualified to be in this position. He played 16 years of professional hockey
in the ECHL, AHL and NHL. He won the AHL Calder Cup Championship with the
New York Rangers and the Boston Bruins farm teams. He was in two AHL All-Star
games, one of which he served as Captain for his native country Canada. He was born in
scarabrough, ON and grew up primarily in Edmonton, AB.
 
He played hockey for the Wheeling Thunderbirds and Wheeling Nailers at one point. He
met his wife Lori Smith here and has lived during the off season in Wheeling for the past
20 years. He has a son Braeden that he coaches on a AAA peewee team.
 
He coached Major Junior hockey three years in the WHL and two years in the OHL. He
helped bring both teams first time banners and a trip to the Memorial Cup with the team
in the OHL in 2011.
