Andrew Woodley

Andrew Woodley enters his third year as the Sports Information Director at Wheeling University in 2020-21.

He is responsible for the promotion of Cardinal Athletics in the media, recording statistics for all varsity teams and maintaining the athletics website. Woodley's tasks also include designing publications, coordinating video production and photography, updating social media pages, award nominations, and overseeing the sports information staff at all athletic events hosted by the university.

The Greenville, Pennsylvania native launched a complete redesign of the Wheeling athletics website in 2020 and has overseen the media and operational efforts for both the 2018 and 2019 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Volleyball Tournaments during his tenure. In addition, Woodley and his staff have played a key role in the operational efforts for each of the Mountain East Conference Basketball Tournaments that have been played in downtown Wheeling at WesBanco Arena.

A member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Woodley has successfully nominated four CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in just two years – considered to be the most prestigious academic award in collegiate athletics. Wheeling had only three CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in school history prior to his arrival.

He also currently serves on both the D2SIDA Atlantic Region women’s basketball voting committee and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Atlantic Region voting committee.

Woodley joined Wheeling University after spending two years as the Sports Information Director at nearby Bethany College in West Virginia. While at Bethany, he oversaw all sports information operations and coordinated the media relations efforts of all 19 varsity teams. During his tenure, the school unveiled a brand-new athletics website, BethanyBison.com, and improved its live streaming capabilities.

Prior to Bethany, Woodley served as the sports information director at Salem International (now university) in West Virginia during both the 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years. While at Salem, he was the media contact for all 17 varsity sports and archived the university's entire athletic hall of fame onto its website.

Woodley spent the 2013-14 academic year as a graduate assistant in the sports information office at California University of Pennsylvania. While with the Vulcans he aided in all facets of sports information and helped host the 2013-14 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and NCAA Regional Tournaments in both women's soccer and softball.

Prior to Cal U, Woodley spent two years in Westerville, Ohio at Otterbein University as an intern, where he was instrumental in redesigning the content of all publications produced by the athletics department. In addition to his duties in the sports information office, Woodley assisted with the redesign of content layout for the Cardinals athletics website and aided the athletic department's "Turf and Track Project" that raised $2.0 million to install a new turf field and new track surface at Memorial Stadium.

Woodley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies from Cal U and earned a Master of Science in Sport Management from the university, with a concentration in Athletic Administration. A four-year student-assistant in the Vulcan Sports Information Office, he also completed an internship with the Pittsburgh Penguins media relations department as an undergrad, and aided the NHL staff at the 2011 Winter Classic at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
