Nathan Hendel enters his third season on the men's basketball staff at Wheeling University in 2021-22.
During the 2021 COVID year, Hendel helped Wheeling make a return trip to the MEC Tournament, where they defeated Alderson Broaddus to advance to the Quarterfinal round. Unfortunately, they bowed out against The University of Charleston. Hendel also helped coordinate travel plans for the Men's Basketball team, while working heavily as a voice on the court during practice.
Hendel helped the Cardinals finish in fifth place in the Mountain East after being picked last in the preseason coaches poll. Wheeling ended the season 14-13 overall, made an appearance in the MEC Tournament Quarterfinals, and guard Jordan Reid was named an All-MEC Second Team selection.
Prior to Wheeling, Hendel spent two seasons as a student manager at Ohio University with former Cardinal Head Coach Will Ryan.
During his undergraduate, Hendel spent time as the Director of Ticket Sales for the Southern Ohio Copperheads baseball team in Athens and also interned in the ticketing and merchandise office of the Toledo Mud Hens, who are a Double-A minor league affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
A native of Findlay, Ohio, Hendel earned his Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management from Ohio in 2019.
