Zach Connor enters his second season as a graduate assistant coach with the defense on Head Coach Zac Bruney’s staff in 2021.

Connor works primarily with the Wheeling defensive line, and serves as an assistant on defense under Wheeling Defensive Coordinator Mott Gaymon. In the spring of 2021, Connor helped lead a defensive line that included All-MEC Honorable Mention Brandon Munoz. He assisted with leading a defense that allowed 26.8 points per game, and had the best game in program history when they allowed just six points against Alderson Broaddus.
 
Connor, who is the son of longtime Indian Creek High School Head Coach Andrew Connor, joined the Cardinals after spending the past four seasons as a volunteer assistant coach on his dad’s staff, primarily working with linebackers.
 
Connor played four seasons collegiately from 2015-18 at Mountain East Conference-rival West Liberty on the defensive line.
 
The Mingo Junction, Ohio native was a All-Ohio Division IV linebacker, team captain at Indian Creek, and played in the 2015 Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Game.
 
Connor earned a bachelor’s degree in social science of history and is enrolled in the MBA program at Wheeling University.
