Nyema "Nemo" Washington enters his third season on the Cardinals staff for the 2022 season and serves as the team's offensive coordinator.

Under his watch, the team saw its first ever 1,000-yard rusher in Sy Alli in 2021 while breaking several program records and averaging 22 points per game. He had two receivers have over 500 yards receiving and had five offensive players named to the All-MEC team during the season. Washington's offense helped the team to their best season in program history as they went 5-6 overall and 5-5 in Mountain East Conference play.

Washington led an offense that was greatly improved for Wheeling during the spring of 2021, scoring just over 25 points per game during the season. They also established the best ground game of program history, with Sy Alli rushing for 700 yards during the season. Wheeling finished the year 2-2, marking their first .500 record in program history.

Washington arrived in Wheeling after a one-year stint as the wide receivers coach at Bowie State, his alma mater. Washington and the Bulldog offense led the CIAA with 39.7 points per game and earned a playoff bid after winning the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship with the school's first-ever undefeated regular-season.

Prior to Bowie State, Washington served one season as Passing Coordinator/Receivers Coach at fellow-Mountain East Conference (MEC) member West Virginia State University in 2018. Yellow Jacket wide out Tyrell Henderson was named an All-MEC First Team selection, and Washington worked with an offense that ranked second in the MEC in Total Offense (452.7 yards per game), third in MEC Scoring Offense (32.5 points per game), third in MEC Passing Offense (230.0 yards per game) and third in MEC Passing Efficiency (139.4).

He also served as a Graduate Assistant at Bowie State working with the quarterbacks in 2017. Washington helped tutor Harlon Hill finalist Amir Hall. Hall would later go on to become a two-time winner of the Deacon Jones Trophy, which is presented to the most outstanding football player from a Historically Black College & University (HBCU).

Washington played quarterback at Bowie State and threw for 992 yards and 12 touchdowns as a freshman in 2015, before injuries derailed his playing career. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degee in Communicatons from Bowie State.

Washington is married to his wife Jocelyn.
