Longtime Martins Ferry assistant coach Dirk Fitch will enter his third year with the Cardinals on Head Coach Zac Bruney's staff in 2020. Fitch is in charge of running backs and is the Director of Football Operations.

No stranger to the Ohio Valley, Fitch served as an assistant football coach for 33 years at nearby Martins Ferry High School under Bruney's father and legendary coach Dave Bruney. Over the course of his career, Fitch was part of six OVAC championships and a regional championship in 2004 with the Purple Riders.

Fitch is the former superintendent of the Martins Ferry City School District, a post he held from 2010-16, after he started working in the district in 1985. During that time he also served as an assistant and head coach of the varsity track & field program at Martins Ferry.

Fitch earned a bachelor of science at Bowling Green State University, a master's degree from Franciscan University and a superintendent's degree from Salem International University.

He and his wife, Mary Beth, have been married since 1988. They have two children; his daughter Kyle is a teacher at Martins Ferry and head volleyball coach, while his son Jack is a track and football standout at Wheeling Jesuit University.
