A coach familiar with the Mountain East Conference baseball landscape, Mike Finlan enters his third season as a member of Head Baseball Coach Ryan Lewicki's staff in 2023. He is also in his second season as the Head Men's Golf Coach at Wheeling in 2022-23.

During the 2021-22 season, Finaln played an instrumental role in helping to shape a young Men's Golf program that sent it's first individual to the NCAA Division II Regional Championships since 2018. Yadhu Urs finished ninth in the region under Finaln's watch, falling just one stroke away from making the NCAA Division II National Championship. Urs also earned All-MEC First Team honors for his efforts, the team's first First Team member since the 2018 season.

He also helped the Wheeling Baseball team to one of its best offensive seasons in school history, with a team batting average of .259 while setting the new program record for doubles (96), triples (20), and home runs (37). Five players reveived All-MEC honors on the season and the team was in the playoff race until the final day of the regular season.

During the 2021 season, Finlan led a pitching staff that included three All-MEC Honorees, including All-MEC First Team selections Jared Nadia and Albert Baez. As a unit, his staff had a 5.71 ERA and an impressive 1.74 WHIP while striking out 251 and walking 182.

Finlan takes over as the team's pitching coach after spending the past three seasons at MEC-rival Glenville State. In addition to his duties as pitching coach, Finlan overseas the strength and condition program for the baseball team.

As a student-athlete, Finlan pitched two seasons at perennial-power Marietta. He made 14 starts and finished his Pioneer career with a record of 6-5 on the bump.

A native of State College, Pennsylvania, Finlan also serves as a baseball coach at the The Highlands Sports Complex which is located east of downtown Wheeling off of Interstate 70.
