Austin Gussman enters his second season as a member of the Wheeling University Baseball coaching staff under Head Coach Ryan Lewicki in 2023. He will be primarily responsible for working with the team's pitchers as well as other day-to-day operations.
In 2021, Gussman played an instrumental role in the team's recruiting efforts during the fall and helped to bring in several graduate transfers. He also stepped in as a player when the team needed him, serving as a member of the Cardinals bullpen throughout the 2022 season.
Prior to Wheeling, Gussman played two seasons at the University of Akron as a member of the Zips. He appeared in three games for the Zips while throwing 2.0 innings of work. He began his collegiate career at UT Rio Grande where he threw 4.2 innings as a freshman.
Gussman is currently pursuing a Master's Degree at Wheeling University.
