Wheeling, W. Va. - With impending rain coming through the area this weekend, the Wheeling University Softball team (8-30, 3-13) announced changes to the upcoming weekend schedule. Their weekend opener is pushed up to Friday, April 17th, when they travel to Davis & Elkins for doubleheader action beginning at 2 PM. They will follow that up with their regularly scheduled Saturday doubleheader against West Virginia Wesleyan with first pitch at 1 PM. 

Last time out, the Cardinals would take on Glenville State University in doubleheader action at the J.B. Chambers I-470 Complex. Game one would see the Cardinals go up against one of the top pitchers in the Mountain East Conference (MEC). Wheeling went pitch-for-pitch with the Pioneers through the first two innings, before the Pioneers broke onto the scoreboard in the top of the third. They would score two in the third, four in the fourth, and two in the fifth to set the eight-run rule into motion before the Cardinals fell 8-0. In game two, the Pioneers would once again get on the board early, scoring four runs in the first four innings. Wheeling would break through on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single, that made it a 4-1 game. In the end, the Cardinals would fall by that final score of 4-1, dropping to 3-13 in conference play. 

The Wheeling University Softball team will open their conference weekend on Friday, April 17th, when they take on Davis & Elkins with first pitch at 2 PM.
