Jovie Noack’s Breakout Offensive Week Earns MEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Wheeling, W. Va. - The Wheeling University Women's Lacrosse team took advantage of their spring break schedule, rattling off the first two wins of 2026 at Bishop Schmitt Field. On Monday, the Mountain East Conference (MEC) released their annual Player of the Week awards, presented by The Healthplan, and the Cardinals were rewarded for their big offensive presence. Senior Attack Jovie Noack was named the MEC's Co-Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the award with Frostburg State's Nelia Haley.

Noack had a breakout week for the Cardinals, combining for 10 goals and five assists across the week, totaling 15 points. In each of the Cardinal wins, the senior would set at least one season-high, putting up a season-best seven goals against Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, and following that up with a four assist effort against Lake Erie to set her second season best of the week. In total, the Cardinal offense scored 36 goals during the week, with Noack playing a part in just under half of her team's offensive output. She would also take efficient shots throughout the week, 12 of the 16 shots she took during the week on net for a .750 shot on goal percentage and a .625 shooting percentage. Along with her offensive production, the senior also helped out on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a caused turnover and five groundballs in the effort.

Her biggest effort would come in the opening game of the week, where she took a front seat on offense in what was a 16-9 win over Chestnut Hill College. Noack would set a new season-best with seven goals in the effort, finishing just three goals shy of tying her single-game goals record. Add to that her one assist on the day, and Noack would finish with eight points in the winning effort to lead the Cardinals. She put eight of the 12 shots she took on net in the effort, and added three ground balls and a caused turnover to round out the effort. On Saturday, Noack continued her offensive success, but moved the ball around rather than taking it to the net. She finished with a career-best four assists against the Storm, while adding three more goals to round out her week.

With Noack taking home MEC Player of the Week honors, she becomes the 36th Wheeling University Student-Athlete to take home Conference Player of the Week honors this season. She is the first member of the Wheeling Women's Lacrosse team to be honored this season, and the first for the program since April 14th, 2025, when Trinity Rose took home the conference's Defensive Player of the Week honors. Last week, the Cardinals would have a pair of honorees, with Baseball player Luke Meyer and Men's Basketball player Tee Harris Jr. Taking home honors.

The Wheeling University Women's Lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday, March 11th, when they hit the road to face Slippery Rock with opening draw at 4 PM.
