Wheeling, W. Va. - After a week down in the sunshine state for spring break, the Wheeling University Softball team (3-9, 0-0) is ready to open the J.B. Chambers I-470 Complex this week. With rain set in the forecast for Wednesday, the official home field opener will come one day earlier than expected as the team announced a schedule change on Tuesday afternoon. The Cardinals will now take on Walsh in doubleheader action on Tuesday, March 10^th, with first pitch scheduled for 2 PM as the team kick off the final week of non-conference play.

Wheeling is coming off a spring break schedule that saw them travel down to Winterhaven, Florida to play both at the Spring Games and against some local non-conference teams. The Cardinals would play eight games in total on the trip, going 2-6 across the eight-game stretch. The week began with a sweep at the hands of Eckerd College, before the Cardinals moved to The Spring Games in Winter Haven, Florida. The Cardinals picked up their first win of the trip on their first day at the facility, taking the second half of the doubleheader 5-4 over Dominican University. After an off day Thursday, the team returned to action on Friday, and once again earned a split, beating Sioux Falls 6-5 before falling to Seton Hill 4-1. The week would wrap up with a trip to Lakeland, Florida to play Florida Southern College, and the Cardinals would drop both games by scores of 9-2 and 3-0.

The Wheeling University Softball team will open the J.B. Chambers I-470 Complex on Tuesday, March 10^th, when they host Walsh in doubleheader action at 2 PM.
