Schedule Change: Scheduling Conflicts Force Softball to Postpone Tuesday Doubleheader with Edinboro

Wheeling, W. Va. – After a weekend on the road, the Wheeling University Softball team (7-21, 2-6) were set to come back home for a Tuesday midweek. However, due to a scheduling conflict in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) that forced Edinboro to reschedule a conference game, Tuesday's doubleheader has been postponed. The two teams will announce the rescheduling of the game at a later date.

The Cardinals wrapped up an MEC South weekend at West Virginia State on Sunday, splitting the day with the Yellow Jackets. Both games would come down to the final at-bats of the day, with the Cardinals striking first in game one. They put up two in the top of the second inning, but a three-spot in the bottom half gav the Yellow Jackets the lead. They would add three more in their half of the fourth and, despite the Cardinals scoring twice in the final two innings, it wasn't enough as they fell 6-4. Game two would once again see the Cardinals strike first with a run in the top of the first and after seven innings the score sat tied at 5-5. The Cardinal bats came to life in the top of the eighth, with Wheeling putting up a pair on an RBI single from Mackenzie Burns before Ryleigh Peters shut the door on a 7-5 Cardinal win.

The Wheeling University Softball team returns to action on Friday, April 3rd, when they take on Fairmont State with first pitch scheduled for 1 PM.
