Schedule Change: Wheeling Baseball Moves CAL-U Midweek to March 31st

Wheeling, W. Va. - With heavy rains rolling through the area on Monday, followed by a cold front on Tuesday, the Wheeling University Baseball team (13-6, 0-0) has announced a change to their midweek schedule. The Cardinals were supposed to match-up with CAL-U at EQT Park on Tuesday, but the game has been rescheduled due to weather. The two teams will play a make-up game on Tuesday, March 31st at EQT Ballpark with first pitch at 1 PM.

The Cardinals are coming off a weekend split in their Mountain East Conference (MEC) opener against the University of Charleston and West Virginia State at EQT Park. The first day would see the Cardinals take on the University of Charleston, with Wheeling scoring a combined 13 runs between the two games. Game one would be a back and forth battle, with Charleston holding off a late Cardinals surge in a 4-3 Wheeling loss. Game two saw both offenses come to life, scoring 17 combined runs, with the Cardinals outlasting the Golden Eagles for a 9-8 victory. Day two featured a couple of pitcher's duels, with neither team scoring more than four runs on the day. Both games would go to extra innings, with the Cardinals drawing a walk-off win to take down the Yellow Jackets 4-3. In game two, the score sat at 2-2 heading into the eighth, and two Yellow Jackets runs would give them a 4-2 win to round out the weekend.

The Wheeling University Baseball team returns to action on Saturday, March 21st, when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan with first pitch at 1 PM.
