Wheeling W.V.- The Wheeling University Women's Swim team (8-4, 1-3) wins in nailbiting fashion against the Fairmont State Falcons. It was only a week ago that Wheeling traveled to Fairmont State and had a tight loss, but tonight was a different story. Senior night at home propelled the Cardinals to a 120-112 victory.

The tone of the match was set from the jump when the 400 yard medley team set a new school record. The team of Niki Chrysafi, Giulia Liberti, Lydie Sprecher, and Grace Moorley left the competition in the dust and swam the event in 4:08.75. All of these swimmers had a great night all around, each winning at least one more event. Sprecher and Moorley each were a part of the first place 400 yard freestyle relay team who finished in 3:49.00 as well. Chrysafi had a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke (1:02.11), a first place finish in the 200 yard IM (2:21.61), and a second place finish in the 200 yard backstroke (2:17.60) as well. Lastly, Liberti won the 100 and 200 yard breaststrokes (1:10.88), (2:36.81).

Senior Gabby Baiano had another great night. She was part of the 400 free relay team that won. Individually she won the 100 yard Butterfly with a 1:03.94, and the 500 yard freestyle with a 5:22.28. Baiano's 100 fly time was a season best. She is the 6th ranked swimmer in the Mountain East.

With tonight's win Wheeling wraps up their regular season. They will return for one final time on February 11th-14th for the Mountain East Championship. With 4 swimmers ranked in the top 10 expect the Cardinal Women to make some noise in Canton.
