Women's Soccer Battles Defending MEC Champs on Trip to West Virginia State

Wheeling, W. Va. - Last time out, the Wheeling University Women's Soccer team (2-3-2, 1-1-2) took on Fairmont State University. The Cardinals would hold the lead 1-0 for most of the game, until Fairmont State found the back of the net with eight seconds left in the game. They would end the game 1-1 to make it their second tied game of the season.

During their game against Fairmont State, the Cardinals would struggle to hold possession, but would get the first goal of the game in the 12th minute of the first half. Gabby Bortolussi would send a pass from midfield to Gracylyn Hanna where Hanna found the back of the net for the first goal of the game. Despite their lead, Fairmont State would out shoot the Cardinals 15-1. Only three of their shots would be on goal with one making it to the back of the net. Akyla Walcott would make two saves on the day, and kept that final score at 1-1.
