Box Score Frostburg, M.D- The Wheeling University Men's Basketball team (10-14), (5-11) made the trip to Maryland to take on the Bobcats as they continue to make a push for the postseason. Unfortunately, the Bobcats were just as eager to make their case for the playoffs too as they toppled the Cardinals 105-83.
After an opening three-pointer by Frostburg, Wheeling got out to an early lead and set the tone early. William Gabbert drove through the lane and was able to get some height off the ground with a slam dunk to gain the 9-3 lead. A jumper from Sean Ealy following the first media timeout of the half would extend the Cardinal lead 15-9, but the Bobcats were able to tie it up just above the 11-minute mark at the free throw line. Then, the air raid from the Bobcats began to rain down with three consecutive three pointers, making the score 25-17 with eight minutes to play. Jaylon Jackson pulled up from three to make a dent into the lead, but Frostburg responded immediately with a three-pointer of their own. Tee Harris jr. kept the spirits on the bench high with a big dunk, but the Bobcats were able to add two more points right after to keep its margin of 10 points, 35-25. Frostburg continued to grow their lead until the half expired for a 57-31 advantage at the break.
The Cardinals were boosted by Harris' play to begin the second half. He would go on to record the next 11 points for the Cards compared to just three by the Bobcats in the opening three minutes to bring the scoring to 60-41. Jackson was able to resume the scoring after no team registered any points since the 15-minute mark media timeout. Both of his free throws sunk and kicked off a scoring frenzy for the two squads. Ealy picked up a couple points along with Harris and Caleb Murray sinking a floating jump shot with 12 minutes left in the contest. With under 10 minutes left, Wheeling went on a 9-5 run over the next two minutes, kicked off with a three pointer from Elijah Edwards and four points by Curtis Harrison IV. Entering the final five minutes Wheeling kept pace with Frostburg, but it was too late as the Bobcats continued to hit from range and ran the clock down and the Cardinals fell 105-83.
Tee Harris jr. led the Cardinals offensively with 19 points, shooting an efficient seven of eight from the field and brought down nine rebounds. Curtis Harrison IV recorded 12 points and only missed one shot as well from the field, making four of his five attempts. Jaylon Jackson finished with 10 points while Sean Ealy finished with nine. Both Alex Smith and Elijah Edwards ended with eight points and William Gabbert recorded seven.
