Schedule Change: Swimming Pushes Dual Meet with Salem to November 12th

Wheeling, W. Va. – The Wheeling University Men's and Women's Swimming teams continue preparations for the Malone Midseason Invitational as they prepare to turn the calendar to November. On Monday, the team announced a change to their upcoming schedule due to scheduling conflicts on campus. Their dual meet against Salem, originally scheduled for Saturday, November 1st, at 1 PM, has been moved to Wednesday, November 12th at 6 PM.

Last time out, the Cardinals hosted Chatham and Bethany on Saturday as they competed in their third straight tri-meet. It was a big day on both sides of the pool, with the Cardinals winning every event on the day, and only dropping one heat throughout the event. In the Men's side, the Cardinals would earn their third sweep of the season, defeating Chatham 164-31 and Bethany 168-4, to move to 6-0 on the season. Five different Cardinals would pick up a gold medal on the day, with Aris Dimakis leading the way with three total wins, two individual and one relay win. On the women's side, the Cardinals would duplicate that effort, earning wins of 137-49 over Chatham and 132-7 over Bethany. Niki Chrysafi would be the leader for the Cardinals, earning two individual wins and one relay win to round out the night.

With just two dual meets remaining before the Malone Midseason Invitational, the Cardinals will be challenging themselves against two MEC teams that are right in the thick of the race. The men currently lead the MEC as they turn the calendar to November, scoring 509.55 points and holding a 65 point advantage on the next closest team. The women are just out of first place, sitting 15 points behind Fairmont State for the top spot. Both teams are young and looking to climb to the top of the MEC, and they look to prove themselves as they head down the final four week stretch towards the first half break.

The Wheeling University Men's and Women's Swimming teams will return to action on Wednesday, November 8th, when they travel to Davis & Elkins for their first road dual meet of the season.
