Wheeling, W. Va. – Wheeling Men's basketball had a huge win against West Virginia Wesleyan winning by 19 points to keep them in the hunt for the MEC playoffs and they kept up that momentum with a win on Saturday night against Davis & Elkins by a score of 85-82 which makes it two in a row for the Cardinals.
Marcus Johnson,
Sean Ealy, and Tee Harris Jr kept up their great play with Harris and Ealy both getting 17 while
Marcus Johnson led the team with 24 points. As a team Wheeling was particularly good from three-point range shooting at 55 percent going 10 for 18 on the night while also shooting at 79 percent from the line which was a big reason why the team was so successful.
Wheelin also had a good night off the bench as they scored 19 points from the bench and they were also able to capitalize off of turnovers with 20 points scored off of them which shows how much pressure they were giving D&E all night. Every point mattered in this game as Wheeling was only leading by 4 going into half-time and they were outscored by one point in the second half, so it was very close.
Going to the pain was also a big reason why Wheeling won as 24 of the 85 points they scored were in the paint and that was because they were able to rebound at a high-rate ending the game with 31 rebounds and
Marcus Johnson was on another level as he collected 10 of those 31 rebounds.
Wheeling Will back in action on February 14th, at 7:30 in Fairmont West Virginia, so make sure you get your tickets and tune into the live stream.
