Montgomery, W. Va. – The Wheeling University Women's Swimming team (8-2) wrapped up The first half dual meat schedule on Wednesday, as they travel to Montgomery, Wheeling would see gold throughout the day, winning every event they competed in and picking up a 190-26 Victory over WVU Tech. The Cardinals had five multi-event winners on the day as they posted their biggest point total of the season.
Leading the group was junior
Gabby Baiano, who picked up three wins on the day all in individual swims. After the 200 yard freestyle medley relay started the day it was Baiano's turn to hit the pool in the 800 yard freestyle. She started her day strong Taking the top spot with a time of 9:58.34. She would show off her versatility in the next event, swimming short distance in the 100-yard butterfly. She would beat the rest of the field by 18 seconds, swimming a time of 1:12.14, and earned her second win of the day. She would go back to long distance to round out her day, swimming in the 400 yard freestyle for her final event. She would once again earn a big win, beating the rest of the field by 11 seconds, swimming a time of 4:55.90.
Aside from Baiano, Three other Cardinals would pick up multiple wins on the day. Ana Noguera would be the next multi event winner, starting things with a win in the 50 yarld backstroke with a time of 33.01. She would stay in the short distance events in her second race, competing in the 50-yard freestyle where she swam a time of 29.00 seconds. Senior
Jade Miller would be the next multi event winner, starting her day in the 100-yard butterfly. She would take the top spot with a time of 37.08 seconds and follow that up with a win in the 100 yard back stroke 1:10.70. Lydia Sprecher, who won two of the final three events. She would start with the 50 yard butterfly, where she swam a time of 30.87, and ended in the 100 yard individual medley, swimming a time of1:12.65.
After Baiano Open the day in the 800,
Lacie Langmyer kept the success going in the 200 yd freestyle. She would pick up her lone win of the day with a time of 2:26.89.
Grace Moorley would be the next Cardinal to find her way in the win column, Swimming a time of 1:04.92 in the 100 yard freestyle. Two events later, Sofia Gonzales Bernal would pick up the win in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:23.27. The final two wins of the day would both come in relay events, starting with the 200 yard medley relay. The team of

Maria Jones, MiKayla Smitley, and Gonzales Bernal took first with a time of 2:19.16. The day would wrap up with the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Moorley,
Sofia Castillo, Gonzales Bernal, and Moyer finished at 2:01.14.
The Wheeling University Women's Swimming Team returns to action on Thursday, November 21st, when they compete in day one of the Malone mid-season invitational.
