Wheeling, W. Va. - During his time at Wheeling University, Wheeling Men's Basketball alumni
Jordan Reid was a terror on the court. He was a three-time All-MEC award winner and sits 18th on the team's all-time scoring list with 1,398 career points. On Tuesday, the former Cardinal signed with the Hub City Hogs of the East Coast Basketball League (ECBL) as he begins his professional basketball career this weekend.
The ECBL is an independent basketball minor league that was developed in 2015 to help showcase some of the best basketball talent on the east coast. The league consists of 30 teams ranging from the Carolinas, Georgia, Virginia, and the Southeastern United States. Reid signed on with the Hub City Hogs, who are based out of Hagerstown, Maryland and play in the ECBL's Mid-Atlantic Division. The Hogs finished last season 9-6 across their 17 games played, including a five-game winning streak that lasted the first month of the season. The Hogs are known for having one of the best back courts in the ECBL and Reid looks to add even more depth and help the Hogs climb the Mid-Atlantic Division Standings.
Reid transferred into Wheeling from Howard Community College prior to the 2019-2020 season and made an immediate impact on the hardwood. Reid would play in 27 games that season, and ranked sixth in the MEC with an average of 18.7 points per game. He earned All-MEC Second Team honors that season and was just beginning what would be a strong Cardinal's career. On December 18th, 2021, Reid would join elite company, becoming the 47th player in Wheeling Men's Basketball history to reach the 1,000 point mark in the team's 78-73 loss to the Panthers. Reid would go on to win two more Second Team All-MEC awards during his career and was named to the MEC All-Tournament team to round out his senior season.
Head Coach
Chris Richardson is proud of the work that Reid has put in throughout the years to get where he is today and is excited to see him flourish on the professional level.
"We are so proud of Jordan," said Richardson. "He's worked extremely hard to earn this opportunity, and we know he will make the most of it. We wish him much success as he continues his playing career at the next level."
The Hub City Hogs will kick-off their 2023 season this weekend when they take on the NOVA Bulls at Gainesville High School on Sunday, February 26th.
