Wheeling, W. Va. - As the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Baseball season heads into its final two weeks, the Wheeling University Baseball team is set to host its next four-game set against Alderson Broaddus. However, due to rain in the area this weekend, there has been a slight change to the four-game series. The two teams will still play the opening doubleheader on Saturday at 1 PM, but Sunday's doubleheader has now been rescheduled for Monday, May 2nd, with first pitch still scheduled for 1 PM. 

The Cardinals head into this weekend series in a big spot as they currently sit fourth in the MEC North Division. They are two games out of an MEC playoff spot, sitting behind Notre Dame College, and need to win or at least split their last two series to keep their playoff hopes alive. Wheeling will take on Alderson Broaddus this weekend followed by a home-and-home four-game series with West Liberty on Friday, May 6th, and Sunday, May 8th. Meanwhile, Notre Dame plays a four-game set with division leading Frostburg State this weekend before playing their home-and-home series against Alderson Broaddus to close out the year. 

In their most recent conference series against the Falcons, Wheeling managed to pull off the series win, going 3-1 over the four-game set. The offense came to play, putting up 37 runs during that four-game series and outscoring the Falcons 37-28 across the four-game set. Riley Cameron and Garth Charlton each had big days at the dish in the second doubleheader where Cameron drove in four runs in game one and Charlton drove in five runs in game two. The 1-9 hitters were all having strong days at the plate and look to continue that trend against the Battlers this series.
