Morgantown, W. Va. – The Wheeling University Men's Swimming team began the 2022-23 season on Friday night on day one of the West Virginia State Games. Sophomore
Nathan Yost was the lone Cardinal to take pool on day one, competing in three events, at the Mylan Park Aquatic Center. It was a good start to the year as Yost got his milestone marks to build off of.
Yost's first event of the day came six events in when he swam in the Men's 200-yard freestyle. He finished 22nd overall in the event, finishing with a time of 1:57.11. his second event of the day came six events later in the 200-yard butterfly and he picked up his first top 20 finish of the day. He placed 14th with a time of 2:20.79, and headed into his final event of the day riding high. He finished the day in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing 28th with a time of 24.08. It was a strong showing for the sophomore as he looks to continue lowering his times throughout the season.
The Wheeling University Men's Swimming team returns to action on Saturday for day two of the West Virginia State Games.
