Wrestling vs. Fairmont State Rescheduled for Wednesday 1-26

Wheeling, W. Va. - Earlier in the season, the Wheeling University Wrestling team (0-2) was forced to reschedule their Mountain East Conference (MEC) dual with Fairmont State due to COVID-19 protocols enacted at Fairmont State. On Monday, the two programs announced that their dual meet, originally scheduled for 1-15, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, 1-26, at 7 PM.

The rescheduled dual gives Wheeling one more tune-up before they head to the MEC Championships this weekend. Wheeling last took the mat on Friday, January 21st, when they took on Davis & Elkins in their second conference dual meet of the season. Unfortunately, Wheeling would drop the match 44-12, but got two big wins at the end of the match. River Pappas scored a win via medical forfeit in the 197-pound weight class and Clarouly Meca brought home the win in the 285-pound matchup via pinfall.

There are a few other dates that the Wheeling Wrestling team is still looking to reschedule from postponements earlier in the season. Those are dual meets against Seton Hill, Glenville State, and Bluefield State that were originally scheduled for the Wheeling Quad event back on January 7th. Both athletic departments are still working on rescheduling those dual matches and will provide an update as soon as those duals have new dates. For now, Wheeling's focus shifts to their final conference dual meet and the MEC Championships this Saturday.

The Wheeling University Wrestling team is set to take the mat this Wednesday, January 26th, when they take on Fairmont State with the first match scheduled for 7 PM.
