WHEELING, W.Va. (April 10) – The Wheeling University football team was defeated 55-7 by Notre Dame College Saturday afternoon at Bishop Schmitt Field.

The Cardinals (2-2, 2-2 MEC) were limited to 138 yards of total offense by the Falcons (4-0, 4-0 MEC) in the loss. Notre Dame ended the afternoon with 589 yards, including 400 on the ground.

Redshirt-freshman quarterback
Brennon Norris made the start and completed 12 of 28 attempts for 82 yards and one touchdown.

Sophomore running back
Eli Young carried the ball 15 times for 33 yards, including a long run of 26 yards.Â

Junior tight end
Tristan Ballard posted four catches for 22 yards and a touchdown to lead the receivers.

Cornerback
Aaron Finch posted eight tackles (seven solo), while linebacker
Dalton Hoover had eight tackles (five solo) and a half-tackle for loss.

Notre Dame scored 31-unanswered points in the first half. The Falcons eventually led 45-0, before Norris connected with Ballard for a 13-yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter.

Wheeling defensively limited the Falcons to just 3-of-11 on third-down conversions.
