Frostburg, MD. – The Wheeling University Women's Swimming team kicked off their 2021-2022 season at Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon. They finished second among the three teams, with
Jade Miller leading the way with two second place finishes
The day got started off right away when the 200-meter relay team took the water in the first event of the day. The team consisting of
Jade Miller,
Meredith Mandal,
Macie Williams, and
Logan Fields finished third with a time of 2:14.04 to finish in third place. It was a big start to the day for the team and set the momentum for the rest of the event. It would be Fields that took on the first individual event of the day in the 200-meter Freestyle. She finished fifth with a 2:32.04 in the event. Pharo took the pool for her only event of the day next, in the 50-meter freestyle where she finished with a 44.29.
However, the top scorer on the day for Wheeling was Miller, who earned two second-place finishes on the day. Her first came in the 100-meter Backstroke where she finished with a time of 1:10.75, and her second was in the 100-meter Intermediate where she posted a 1:12.12. In both instances, she was only seconds away from the top spot as she really showed what she can do in the pool.
In the team rankings, Wheeling lost both of their match-ups to Frostburg State and Millersville at the event. Against Frostburg State, they fell 160-64, and they followed it up with a closer game against Millersville in which they fell 138-106. It was their first outing of the season, and gave them a lot to build off of moving forward.
The Wheeling University Women's Swimming team is back in action on October 16
th when they head to Malone University.
