PHILLIPI, W.Va. (March 10) - The Wheeling Jesuit University women's lacrosse team knocked off Alderson Broaddus 22-10 Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match.
The Cardinals improve to 2-2 overall this season, while the Battlers drop to 0-7 overall.
Junior Hayley Holmqust (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley) matched a career-high with seven goals in the win. Sophomore
Paige Orbell (Severn, Md./Old Mill) and freshman
Mackenzie Kaderabek (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) each finished with three goals, while senior
Ally Coggins (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore), senior
Kate Calder (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) and sophomore
Megan Mangia (Gahanna, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) each added two goals.
Coggins was the team's top point getter, adding eight assists to her final line to total 10 points.
Wheeling Jesuit led 5-4 halfway through the first period, before the team went on a 7-2 run to close out the first 30 minutes with a 12-6 lead. The Cardinals and Battlers traded blows in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but the Cardinals maintained a 16-10 advantage. WJU put the match away with six-unanswered goals to close out the game, including a pair of man-up markers, to wrap up the team's second-straight win.

Elizabeth Hanks (Cranberry, Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) earned the win with five saves in net.
Wheeling Jesuit out-shot Alderson Broaddus 52 to 22 in the match.
The Cardinals head to Erie, Pennsylvania on Thursday, March 14 to take on Gannon in another non-conference match at 4 p.m.
