BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (Feb. 23) – The Wheeling Jesuit University men's basketball team traveled to to the home of West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 75-66 victory to go level with its opponents in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) standings.

The Cardinals climb to 7-13 in the MEC, 8-18 overall with the win. The Bobcats fall to 10-16 overall, 7-13 in the conference with the loss.

Freshman center Tariq Woody (Canton, Mich./Novi) tallied five rebounds and four assists to go along with a team-high 25 points. Freshman forward DeAndre Robinson (Monroeville, Ala./Monroe County) shot a perfect five of five from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points.

There was not much to separate the teams in the opening 11 minutes of the game. Then, down by one with 8:06 remaining in the first half, the Cardinals erupted on a 16-4 run. Woody's presence in the post was a major factor, accounting for eight of the 16 points during the stretch. Wheeling Jesuit led West Virginia Wesleyan 33-22 going into halftime.

The Bobcats tried to battle back in the second half, but their efforts were no match for Wheeling Jesuit's shooting accuracy. The Cardinals shot 68 percent from the field and went seven of eight from behind the three point line. Robinson drained one of his five three-pointers with 2:52 left on the clock to give the Cardinals their largest lead of the game, 73-58.

Wheeling Jesuit held the lead for 94 percent of the contest. The Cardinals managed 40 points in the paint, 16 points off turnovers and 13 second chance points. The Bobcats were kept to shooting below 50 percent from the field.
