WHEELING, W.Va. (Feb.20) - The Wheeling Jesuit women's basketball team was defeated 91-66 by the current Mountain East Conference (MEC) leader Glenville State on Wednesday evening.
The Cardinals fall to 4-21 overall, 2-17 in the conference with the loss, while the Pioneers improve their record to 23-2 overall and 18-1 in league play.

Chenelle Moore (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville South) led the team with 24 points and 12 rebounds, recording her 18th game in double-figures and her 15th game with a double-double. Junior
Khira Burton (Cincinnati, Ohio / Walnut Hills) put 15 points on the scoreboard for the Cardinals, marking her 19th game in double-figures.

Lauren Lipscomb (Columbus Ohio / Pickerington North) added seven points and had a season-high eight rebounds. Sophomore
Tori Harrison (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville) also scored seven points and recorded three steals.
WJU stayed even with the Pioneers throughout the first quarter, only going down two by the end (17-15). The Cardinals used this momentum to push ahead of Glenville State 19-17 beginning in the second quarter with strong defensive rebounding by Lipscomb, two good free throws and a layup by Burton.
The Cardinals went 12 of 12 from the free throw line and battled back and forth with the Pioneers. WJU took the lead with seven minutes left to go, but Glenville State found some footing and went on a 22-6 run. The Pioneers ended the first half up 45-30.
The Cardinals fought back within 12 with Moore scoring 16 of her points in the second half. Unfortunately, the team could not gain an advantage. The Pioneers held control of the ball, ending the game ahead 91-66.
Wheeling Jesuit travels to Buckhannon, W.Va. to take on West Virginia Wesleyan in another MEC matchup on Saturday, February 23 at 2 p.m.
