HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Wheeling opened up leads of 10-3 and 17-9 and appeared to be in control in the first set.
  • Urbana rallied back to within two, 20-18, and put pressure on the Cardinals, but a kill by Haley Kramer and a block by both her and her twin-sister Bre helped secure the set at 25-20.
  • The Blue Knights kept the second set close and eventually tied Wheeling up at 12-12.
  • The Cardinals followed with an 8-to-3 run to open up a 20-15 lead and force an Urbana timeout.
  • Wheeling was on the cusp of a two-set lead when they went ahead 23-18, but five-straight points by the Blue Knights knotted the set at 23-23.
  • The Cardinals remained composed and got the final two points of the set on a Bre Kramer kill and an attack error to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
  • Urbana established its first-lead of any kind in the third set and looked like it would not go down in three when it opened up a 13-11 lead.
  • Wheeling absolutely took the air out of the building with eight-straight points to take a 19-13 advantage.
  • After Urbana stopped the run, the Cardinals rolled off six-straight to clinch the match at 25-14.
