WHEELING WEEK IN REVIEW: Glenville State rallied from a 14-0 halftime deficit to defeat Wheeling, 24-14 last Saturday. Cardinal quarterback Tucker Strachan was 19-of-35 for 156 yards. Running back Sy Alli IV carried the ball 17 times for 73 yards. Wide receiver Jake Keenan had five catches for 56 yards.

WEST VIRGINIA STATE WEEK IN REVIEW: Charleston held West Virginia State to just 67 yards rushing and produced four interceptions to deal the Yellow Jackets a 42-24 home loss. WVSU's Austin Hensley had a pair of TD passes early in the fourth quarter to draw the Yellow Jackets back to within 11 at 35-24 with still 9:57 to play, but a UC touchdown and a pick-six ended the comeback attempt. Hensley was 36-of-55 for 372 with two touchdowns, but was picked four times.

WEST VIRGINIA STATE HEAD COACH: Head Coach John Pennington is in his third season with the Yellow Jackets. He led WVSU to its first winning season in a decade in 2017. Pennington is a former WVU wide receiver who is best known for a diving 28-yard touchdown against arch-rival and No. 16 Pitt in 2003 to help the Mountaineers defeat the Panthers 52-31.

AIR FORCES: Wheeling features the top passing defense in the MEC and is allowing a league-low 194.7 yards per game through the air. West Virginia State enters the game leading the league with 324.8 passing yards per game.

BREAK OUT GAME: Wheeling defensive end Brandon Munoz established a season-high with 12 tackles and doubled his season-sack total when he recorded 3.0 last week at Glenville State. He ranks second in the MEC with six solo sacks.

MARGIN FOR ERROR: Wheeling and West Virginia State are at the bottom of the MEC in turnover margin this season. The Cardinals have 15 takeaways and 23 turnovers (-8), while the Yellow Jackets have only eight takeaways and 17 turnovers (-9).

BOTTOM OF THE PACK: Wheeling and West Virginia State are the two worst teams in the MEC in terms of rushing defense. The Yellow Jackets are allowing 218.7 yards rushing per game, while the Cardinals yield 273.0 yards per game.

LONGEST PLAYS: Wheeling has both the longest fumble return and the longest interception return this season in the MEC. Defensive back Jermichael Isom scooped up a fumble and took it 98 yards for a touchdown last week at Glenville State. Defensive back Chris Canaday's 69-yard interception return at West Virginia Wesleyan in September still stands as the longest in the MEC this year.

POOR RECEPTION: Wheeling wide receiver Ryan LaFollette was held to a season-low five receptions at Glenville State. He still ranks seventh in Division II with 7.6 per game.

NEXT UP: The Cardinals will close out their inaugural varsity season on the road next Saturday, November 16 when they travel to Athens, West Virginia to take on Concord in a MEC contest at 12 p.m.
