WHEELING, W.Va. (Nov. 22) – The Wheeling University volleyball team advanced to the finals of the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Tournament with a 3-0 win over Davis & Elkins Friday night inside the McDonough Center.

In addition to advancing to Saturday night's MEC Championship against Urbana, the win clinched the 12
th-straight 30-win season for Head Coach
Christy Benner's Cardinals.

TEAM LEADERS
- Junior Breanna Kramer (Norwalk, Ohio/Monroeville) led the three players in double-figures with 14 kills on 34 attacks with three errors (.324 hitting percentage)
- Junior Cassie Meyer (Jackson Center, Ohio/Jackson Center) totaled 12 kills on the night.
- Senior Haley Kramer (Norwalk, Ohio/Monroeville) added 10 kills and a team-high four blocks in the win.
- Senior Stephanie Sylvester (Oregon, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) tossed around 46 assists and added 10 digs for a double-double.
- Junior Audrey Francis (Sidney, Ohio/Fairlawn) paced the defense once again with a game-high 14 digs with zero reception errors.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wheeling and Davis & Elkins were even at 9-9 in the first set.
- The Cardinals took command of the game with five-straight points to force a Senators timeout.
- With the score 15-11, Wheeling notched six-straight points to race out to a 21-11 lead and eventually win the set at 25-15.
- D&E had the second set tied up at 8-8 in the second set, but once again the Cardinals seized momentum.
- Wheeling took eight of the next nine points to establish a 15-9 lead and force a Senator timeout.
- Davis & Elkins drew as close as five, including at 21-16, but a run of four-straight points to close out the set helped Wheeling take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The script remained the same in the third set, as D&E was tied at 7-7 to open the final set.
- Wheeling collected 12 of the next 19 points to establish a 19-14 lead.
- The Senators strung a few points together to pull within three at 19-16, but the Cardinals never allowed them to get closer.
- Wheeling's Bre Kramer put the finishing touches on the night with her 14th kill to clinch the team's spot in Saturday's championship match.

- Wheeling will look to defend its MEC Tournament crown tomorrow, Saturday, November 23 at 7 p.m. against No. 2 Urbana.
