Wheeling defeated by league-leading Concord

Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. (Oct. 30) – The Wheeling University women's soccer team was defeated by league-leading Concord 7-1 on a rainy night at Bishop Schmitt Field Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Concord raced out to a 4-0 lead at halftime and never looked back.
  • The Mountain Lions added a trio of second half goals, before the Cardinals got on the board in the 66th-minute.
  • Sophomore Braedynn Porter (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) got behind the Concord back line and was fouled by the Mountain Lion goalkeeper outside of the box to setup a penalty kick, which she converted.
MATCH NOTES
  • Concord attempted 31 shots, compared to the six taken by Wheeling.
  • Concord also held a 9-to-2 advantage in corner-kicks.
