BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (Oct. 29) - Wheeling University senior setter Stephanie Sylvester (Oregon, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) was named the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Offensive Player of the Week announced the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Sylvester helped the 17th-ranked Cardinals to a pair of wins last week averaging 13.4 assists per set. She had 55 assists and guided the offense to a .316 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over Malone last Tuesday, and then had 39 assists as the Cards downed West Virginia State. Wheeling hit .370 in the win over the Yellow Jackets and only yielded an assisted block to the MEC and Division II leader in that category.

The Oregon, Ohio native currently slots fourth in Division II with 12.10 assists per set and ranks second all-time in MEC history with 4,532 total assists. Sylvester is second only to former Cardinal Andrea Thobe's 5,917 career assists (2013-16).

Her selection marks the sixth individual weekly award given to a Wheeling University volleyball player this season.

Sylvester and the rest of the Cardinals are on the road in South Euclid, Ohio tonight, Tuesday, October 29 to take on Notre Dame (Ohio) in a MEC match at 6 p.m.
