Strong-Starting Cardinals Unable to Stop Griffins

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The first 15 minutes belonged to the Cardinals. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Regular Season champion Seton Hill powered past Wheeling Jesuit over the three quarters on the way to a 16-7 G-MAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament Semifinal match.

Jordan Getz and Michael Schonhiutt both scored in the opening 5:45 of the match and a Nico Cicco goal with 2:05 left in the first gave the Cardinals (6-9) a 3-1 advantage. The Griffins (15-1) tied the match within the first 2:39 of the second quarter and made it seven-straight scores through the opening minute of the third frame on their way to the win.

Dereck Downs assisted on the first WJU goal and scored twice in the second half to lead the visitors charge. Jordan Getz found the net twice, while Matt Lee netted one and assisted on one. Cicco and Schonhiutt had the other goals. Jamison Smith and Michael Jablonski assisted one time apiece.

Jake Lilly posted 15 saves in his final Cardinals match in goal.
