Griffins Big Start Too Much for Cardinals

GREENSBURG, Pa. – A seven-goal Seton Hill start to the Wednesday women's lacrosse match proved to be too much to come back from for Wheeling Jesuit in a 19-9 final score.

Over the opening 14:12 of the match, the Griffins (1-0) scored seven times and continued to an 11-1 advantage with 8:05 in the first half. Kori Hickman scored two times for WJU (1-3) in the final 5:51 and added a third along with a Paige Orbell tally to pull their team within 13-5. Seton Hill let them get no closer despite WJU playing even in the second 30 minutes.

Hickman finished with four goals and Orbell found the net three times. Allie Coggins and Megan Mangia scored once and assisted on one goal. Kate Calder had the Cardinals other assist, while Elizabeth Hanks stopped four Griffins shots.

WJU stays on the road in an 11 a.m. match at the University of Indianapolis on Saturday, March 3.
