Women's basketball falls at Findlay, 86-61

Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio (Dec. 30) - The Wheeling Jesuit University women's basketball team was dealt an 86-61 loss at Findlay in a non-conference game Sunday afternoon.

The loss sends the Cardinals to 3-9 overall, while the Oilers improve to 8-3 this season.

Junior guard Khira Burton (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) led the team with 18 points, while freshman forward Peyton McCord (Mt. Vernon, Ohio/Mt. Vernon) chipped in season-highs of 13 points and five blocks. Senior forward Chenelle Moore (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South) recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Findlay established a double-digit lead in the first quarter of play and took a 28-14 advantage into the second quarter. The Oilers continued to build their lead and held the scoring edge in both the second and third quarters. The Cardinals cut into the deficit in the fourth quarter, but were unable to overcome Findlay's big lead.

Wheeling Jesuit shot 24 of 62 (39 percent) from the field and posted a 7 of 25 (28 percent) performance from long distance. The Oilers shot 45 percent (31-of-69) from the floor and held a 46-35 advantage on the glass in the game.

The Cardinals will have some time off until their next game on Thursday, January 10 when they return to conference play to take on Charleston at 5:30 p.m.
