WHEELING, W.Va. (Nov. 3) - The No. 18 Wheeling Jesuit University volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-14) sweep against Notre Dame (Ohio) in the regular-season finale Saturday afternoon at the McDonough Center.

The Cardinals finalize a perfect 16-0 mark in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) with a 31-3 overall record. Meanwhile, the Falcons fall to 16-16 overall, 8-8 in league play.

Sophomore Cassie Meyer (Jackson Center, Ohio/Jackson Center), who was recognized prior to the match for earning her 1,000th kill in a win at West Liberty this week, finished with team-highs of 12 kills and 16 digs to collect her 20th double-double of the season. Junior Haley Kramer (Norwalk, Ohio/Monroeville) finished with eight kills and four blocks, while junior setter Stephanie Sylvester (Oregon, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) tossed around 30 assists in the win.

Wheeling Jesuit had runs of five and six points in the opening set to help start the match with a 25-14 win.

The Cardinals went back-and-forth with the Falcons early in the second set. Notre Dame had the lead at 7-6, before the Cardinals rolled off 19 of the next 26 points to collect a second 25-14 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.

WJU was already out in-front 8-5 in the third set when they went on an 11-1 spurt to build a 19-6 advantage. The Cardinals eventually closed out the third set with another identical 25-14 win.

Wheeling Jesuit had 15 players see action on the court, including sophomore Abby Strait (Bridgeport, W.Va./Bridgeport), who added six kills on nine attacks (one error) to compile a .556 hitting percentage over two sets.
