Rich claims invitational title at Slippery Rock

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (Oct. 6) – Junior Devin Rich (Buffalo, W.Va./Buffalo) claimed the individual title at the Bill Lennox Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.  

The Cardinals earned 53 points to finish third.  Host-Slippery Rock collected the invitational title with 37 points with Bloomsburg coming in a close second with 40 points.

Rich ran away with the invitational title and set a new eight-kilometer course record of 29 minutes flat. Freshman Mark Duez (Bridgeport, W.Va./Bridgeport) also came in the top-10 finishing 8th with a time of 30 minutes, three seconds. Senior Austen Zorick (Clarksburg, W.Va./Robert C. Byrd) crossed the finish line 14 seconds behind his teammate in 30 minutes, 17 seconds and in 9th place.

Junior Michael Duez (Bridgeport, W.Va./Bridgeport) finished the race for the Cardinals in 17th place with a time of 34 minutes, 26 seconds. Following behind his teammate, junior Tyler Stewart (Bellaire, Ohio/Bellaire) came in 18th place with a time of 34 minutes, 52 seconds. Senior Marcel McCaskill (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) finished in 19th place with a time of 40 minutes, 25 seconds.

The Cardinals will compete again on October 20th at the Rock Pre-Nationals which is being held at the Bob O'Connor Golf Course at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
