WJU Basketball - Weekend Preview - Wheeling Jesuit Visits Concord

Women's preview:
Wheeling Jesuit continues its late season road stint with a Saturday trip to Concord University. In the season's first meeting, the Cardinals stormed past the Mountain Lions, 92-61, in the McDonough Center. Five Cardinals finished in double figures led by Mariah Callen's 19 points and five assists. Jaana Motton added one of her eleven double-doubles, 18 points and 11 rebounds. Concord was led by Danielle Catron's 21 points on 8-12 shooting. Since the creation of the Mountain East Conference in 2013, WJU holds an 8-0 record against Concord including a MEC Tournament victory over the Mountain Lions in the 2013-14 season.
 
WJU enters the contest on a four-game win streak including holding Virginia Wise to 44 points on Thursday. Monica Burns scored WJU's first eight points of the game and the Cardinals would never look back. The WJU defense continues to lead the MEC in scoring, allowing a league low 61.3 points per game while ranking second in scoring margin (+11.6 points). Burns leads WJU with 16.2 points while shooting a conference best 41.8% from three-point range. Mariah Callen averages 13.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists, ranking 12th in scoring and fifth in assists. Jaana Motton averages 12.4 points and a MEC-best 9.9 rebounds. Chenelle Moore chips in 10.5 points and 5.6 rebounds.
 
Concord comes off their second consecutive victory, an 81-54 home routing of West Liberty. Alexis Lowery leads the Mountain Lions with an average of 15 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists. Danielle Catron adds 12.8 points and 2.9 rebounds.
 
Men's preview:                      
The Wheeling Jesuit men's basketball team travels to Concord for the second of its four-game road stretch. On January 14th in Wheeling, the Cardinals outlasted the Mountain Lions, 83-80. Four Cardinals finished in double figures led by Haywood Highsmith's 22 points and 11 rebounds. Kyle Ritz also finished with a double-double, 13 points and 10 rebounds. Concord received five double-digit efforts led by 18 points from Michael Sanchez. Since the formation of the Mountain East Conference in 2013, WJU is 7-1 against Concord including a postseason victory in the 2014-15 MEC tournament.
 
The Cardinals enter Saturday looking to get back on the winning track, as WJU fell Thursday in the late seconds to the Virginia Wise Cavaliers, 83-81. As a group, the Cardinals rank third in scoring offense (87.6 points) and fourth in scoring defense (77.2 points). Pat Moseh leads the way with 15.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Haywood Highsmith contributes a double-double average of 14.3 points and 10.9 rebounds. Freshman Preston Boswell chips in 13.9 points on 41% shooting while Kyle Ritz rounds out the Cardinal double-digit scorers with his 12.7 points and 8.2 rebounds.
 
Concord enters Saturday looking to complete its second straight upset, as the Mountain Lions knocked off No. 2 West Liberty, 107-104, Thursday evening. Concord is led by Aaron Miller's 19.7 points and four rebounds per game while Stephen Thompson supplies 11.6 points and a team high 6.1 rebounds on average.
