WHEELING, W.Va. – With a late Natalie Indermuhle header, the Cardinals comeback ran out of time. Behind a Alexis Manoa 'hat trick,' Notre Dame College women's soccer held off late-charging Wheeling Jesuit in a 3-2 Sunday afternoon final.

Trailing 3-1, Micah Miller served a corner kick to the front of the net where Indermuhle headed it past the Falcons (9-2-1/9-1-1 Mountain East Conference) keeper at 84:05. The Cardinals (3-9/2-8 MEC) kept the pressure on as Miller had a shot go wide at 85:05, before Jenny Soegaard-Andersen and Karly Judy each put a shot in the final minute (89:13 and 89:57) in an attempt for the tie.

Manoa, though, booted three long goals, which proved to be the match difference. The Notre Dame College forward took a tied, 1-1, match at the half to a 3-1 lead with scores at both 59:07 and 60:35

Behind 1-0, WJU tied the match late in the first half when Sarah Blasiman received a Kayla Klock pass from the left wing and tapped it home at 40:51.

Notre Dame edged a 14-13 final shots advantage, while WJU's Hannah Thompson posted seven saves.

WJU travels to face Urbana University on Thursday, Oct. 12, starting at 4 p.m.
